Winemaker Alvaro Gonzales Marcos is in the business of making lively, energetic wines. His 50- year-old bush trained vines are certified organic and are farmed biodynamically. The vineyard is located in Penedès, close to Barcelona, the biggest viticultural region of Catalonia. Alvaro picks all of the grapes by hand and creates an environment at Masia, his cellar where wine has been made for over 400 years, that allows the winemaking process to flourish and thrive. He picks ripe and healthy grapes, uses spontaneous fermentation with native yeast, there is no filtering, and no sulfur added. The Mediterranean climate and its proximity to the sea informs the taste and spirit of Alvaro’s wines.
